How Do I Redirect My Old Blogger Posts To My New WordPress Blog?

Question: I’m in the process of migrating from blogger to wordpress. I got all my posts and images moved over and the permalink structure is the naming convention. Now, is there an easy way to update all the ‘hard-coded’ internal links within each post?

For example, when I linked to another post of mine within a newer post, I used the old blogspot permalink and those are still in the posts that migrated over. Please tell me I don’t have to go in to each post and manually change them all!
I just did this today with an old Blogspot blog. It’s not that hard, and it works great. Visit link below.

Essentially, what you’re trying to do is make sure that all of your old blog entries from your old blogger blog auto direct to your new blog. You’ve said that you’ve already migrated all the content over to wordpress, so that’s done.

Now you need to simple ensure that anyone who comes to your old blog at Blogger.com somehow and clicks on a link to another old Blogger.com blog entry of yours… that it forwards to your new blog, right?

Here’s what I found.

Worked like a charm! Did that solve your problem?

    Hi Jim,

I’m finally getting around to trying this…

It works for redirecting to the new site (with a few seconds delay) but it only redirects to the homepage. I’m looking for a way for old permalinks to redirect to new permalinks as well.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Kristen

I see what you mean, you want old individual entries from old blogger to forward to the new entries in WP. Unfortunately, I have not found how to do that. :(

Very helpful. There’s an alternative to redirecting: Why not just get the same URLs on your WP blog? I wrote this post about moving from Blogger to WordPress 2.7 using Godaddy Economy Hosting: http://ferrogate.com/2009/04/the-new-ferrogate-i-moved-from-blogger-to-wordpress.html . I managed to keep URLs intact without redirecting or doing any manual labor. Hope it’s useful to someone.

Thanks for a great blog, subscribing to it as we speak.

You should add those bookmark share buttons on your site, you’d be surprised how many people actually use them! Unless you already have them and I’m just blind
