I know I have a quality site with many quality backlinks. How long of a wait in the sandbox is it? Plus, high PR sites are reluctant to give you a backlink if your PR isn't high enough. So, I believe PR is important. I believe it does a fairly accurate ranking of a website's popularity as opposed to Google's page rank -- which is a highly secretive system and doesn't really work for the end user so much as it works for Google's internals.
